I was commissioned by Cinema for All to create illustrated assets to promote their horrors season ‘In Dreams Are Monsters’. Running from October to December 2022, ‘In Dreams Are Monsters’ was a major UK-wide BFI film and events season, charting how the monsters of horror have evolved, made physical the anxieties of their times, and how we react when faced with the monster within.

 

My response was to create a series of characters and illustrations that are both monstrous and dreamlike. The illustrations could be used as a whole or broken down into elements to be used across digital, print and social media.

 

Cinema for All helps communities host their own film screenings and immersive experiences. They offer support, equipment hire and access to over 800 films, representing some of the very best of international cinema, British films, independent features, documentaries and crossover titles. The BFI are a cultural charity, a National Lottery distributor, and the UK's lead organisation for film and the moving image.
